I have been in the field of education for over 18 years and feel blessed to be the Principal of St. John the Baptist Catholic School. We are a Catholic TK-8th grade elementary school that celebrates a legacy of academic excellence in the Napa Valley. We are proud to have over 100 years of educating students who have grown into successful, productive leaders of our society.
Just how do we prepare our children for an ever changing world and for jobs yet to exist? It is certainly an awesome responsibility and a challenge we at St. John’s take seriously. First and foremost, we start with a Christ-centered learning environment that encourages development of the whole child. Our students learn to be problem solvers, critical thinkers, collaborators, and responsible and ethical citizens in a Christ-centered way.
We also have outstanding teachers who are dedicated to fostering loving and nurturing classrooms that focus on learning for knowledge and deep understanding, not just a letter grade. Our teachers address the needs of all learners through differentiated, data driven instruction along with current technology. We are fortunate to have a part-time Educational Achievement Specialist (EAS) on staff who provides intervention and support with outstanding results. With the hiring of a resource teacher students’ academic growth has increased 99%!
Yet, academic excellence and exceptional teachers are just the beginning. We offer Spanish, music, drama, environmental literacy programs, service and leadership opportunities, and extra-curricular sports for additional ways our students can fulfill their fullest potential, fall in love with learning and have fun.
We feel strongly in the home-school relationship because we understand parents are the primary educators of their children. In fact, research shows us that students thrive and reach higher levels of learning when this connection is strong, so we work in partnership with our parents to build ties that are rooted in faith. Together we create a learning environment in which students excel academically and grow personally, socially and spiritually. We want our students to excel, grow, thrive, and have fun, all while making memories that will last a lifetime.
We welcome your child to a playdate for TK-K or a “Shadow Day” for grades 4-8th, and personally I invite you to visit our campus and see firsthand what has drawn me, my teachers and staff, and so many families to the close, family-oriented community of St. John the Baptist Catholic School.
