ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC SCHOOL Celebrates National Catholic Schools Week 2009/2010!
Dear St. John the Baptist Catholic School Families,
National Catholic Schools Week is coming up and we have been busy preparing the festivities that celebrate all that makes us a unique educational opportunity. What a blessing that our children can shine the light of Christ throughout every aspect of their learning. I wish to highlight several activities of Catholic Schools Week that invite your participation. - On Sunday, 1/31, we invite all school families to attend the 10am Family Mass (students should come to Mass in full uniform), followed by a current family, parishioner and alumni Open House in the School from 11am to 12pm. Special blessings will be offered for Sister Joyce Poeschl to celebrate her 50th year Jubilee as a Dominican Sister and Mrs. Boyce on her 30th year of ministry to St. John the Baptist Catholic School. Please invite friends, family and alumni to attend!
- On Monday, 2/1, we launch a new event to serve our community. Our school's students feed the Napa Food Bank with a "Bucket Brigade"! In a student, parent and staff food chain, we will transport non-perishables from St. Johns to the Seminary/1st Street fire station. We will line Main and 1st streets, passing our donations one faith-filled person at a time. The food collected will be transported to the Napa Food Bank in recognition that folks are in need throughout the year, not just during the holidays. Watch for the Field Trip Form to come home. Join us on the route! Please send in non-perishable food items asap!
- On Friday, 2/5, we thank you, our parent volunteers with "Drop-off Donuts". As you drop-off your child for school, the school staff will hand you a donut to appreciate all that you do!
But wait! There are many more activities! Please click on the link for additional details on Catholic Schools Week.
And... be sure to follow us on Facebook! Search for "St. John the Baptist Catholic School Napa" and become a fan.
With one voice... We'll pass the word along.
In Peace, Nancy Jordan Principal

Reminder of Morning Student Drop-Off Procedures
We would like to remind families that students cannot be dropped off on Napa Street to enter the school through the front door. We have been asked by the City of Napa to not block through traffic on Napa Street. All students must be dropped off through our regular drop-off line (entering on Napa Street and exiting on Caymus Street) or, if the gates have been closed for morning assembly, students must enter through the Caymus Street gates, which may be closed, but are not be locked.
Students arriving after morning assembly must be signed in as tardy with the school office by an adult.
Family Club News
Welcome back! We hope all our families enjoyed cherished time together over the Christmas holiday.
Join your friends and school community for an evening of fun, January 23rd, at the annual Super Bowl-CRAB FEED & BEYOND!! Laurie Daw has been busy planning, and Family Club is helping fill the dessert tables for the Dessert Auction. The Room Coordinators will be asking for donations for this task, so please help if you can. This evening is sure to be a blast with the great food, music, dancing, and football pool that we all look forward to, as well as the addition of a Live and Silent Auction including beautiful Classroom Projects and a stay in Cabo San Lucas! It will be a sellout, so order your tickets now!
Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and Family Club will assist Cupid again this year by sending Candy-Grams... You will have the opportunity to send your child, another student, or staff member a special treat on Friday, February 12th. Last year Family Club sent more than 600 Valentine wishes and treats!! That's a lot of Candy-Grams to put together, but it is fun and fast with enough parents to help. So please join us Tuesday, February 9 @ 8:30am for a short Family Club meeting followed by Candy-Gram making. There will be coffee and treats for the Candy-Gram helpers that day too...and who knows where Cupid's arrow will land? (Note:This is a date change from the originally scheduled FC meeting.)
Happy New Year wishes from Family Club.
