St. John's School Council
The Council is a consultative body for St. John's Parish School. The actions of this Council shall be consistent with and supportive of the policies of St. John's Parish, The Diocesan Board of Education, and the Bishop of the Diocese of Santa Rosa.
The Council is established by the Pastor to assist him and the Principal in the governance of the school. Governance is divided into two parts: policy and administration. The Council courecommends policy which shall become binding when it is formally approved by the Pastor. The Council is not responsible for administration but may be consulted in adminstrative matters by Principal or Pastor.
The School Council consists of elected, appointed and ex-officio members. Six members are elected by the school parent community. Three members are appointed by the Administrative team and may be representative of School Alumni, members of any parish whose children may attend St. John's Catholic School, and St. John's Parishioners. The Principal, the Pastor, and the Parent Club President are ex-officio as well as the Scrip Coordinator.
The School Council meets monthly on the third Wednesday evening each month, through the school year. Watch for meeting announcements in the school calendar.

-Parent/ Teacher/ Student Survey results: Jake presented a transcription of the survey results in a hand out. There was under 100 responses total. The overall summary of the survey identifies three primary needs: gym/parish center, campus atmosphere and improved academic program.
Presentation by Kevin Zeller
Architect's plans presented a possibility for the future of our church and school.
5. Committee Reports
Recruitment/PR committee- Plans are in the works for representing the school at the Napa Christmas Parade. The theme this year is "I'm Dreaming of a Bright Christmas." There is a $500 prize for the best float. In order to get organized for this, we need to find an idea for a float and have lots of lights for it. The Taylor family will provide use of a flat bed.
They are also working on Open House dates for the school.
Development- Jog-a-thon brought in more funds than anticipated, however there is still a shortfall to cover due to the lack of the Gala.
Let Your Light Shine Fund is bringing in new interest already.
Church Mouse- Kelly, Judy and Lisa went to visit the Sonoma Church mouse to see how it operates. It has been operating for the last 30 years and is a consistent source of income for them. This would be excellent source of revenue for the school facility if we could put into practice the same idea, even on a smaller scale. A conservative estimate would be to bring in 200,000.
6. New Business
--Agenda for Council should go in the eGazzette, so as to invite parents to the school council meeting.
Motion to adjourn by Lisa, seconded by Felicia.
