Breakfast with St. Nick

BwSN is an annual St. John the Baptist Catholic School funfilled, Christmas tradition and has been celebrated for many years. It is typically held on the 1st Sunday of December in our Parish Hall (this year December 4, 8:30am - 12:30pm) and for a nominal entrance fee you and your family will be served a great pancake breakfast.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for the many activities, which include: - games (where kids will win goody bags), Christmas crafts, raffles, face-painting, petting zoo and a photo opportunity with Santa in his sleigh! There is also a craft and bake sale, "gift certificate tree" and small auction to help raise a little money for our great school. BwSN has always proven to be a wonderful kick-off the Christmas Season!

There are many opportunities before and during this event to log some of your required fundraising volunteer hours; prepare crafts, stuff prize bags, solicit donations of goods and certificates, shop for pancake breakfast supplies, set-up and decoate the hall and on the day of the event, supervise a craft table, run the bake sale, help in the kitchen and last, but certainly not least, help clean-up!  Please contact Jami Bement-Mendez or Peta Shindle if you are interested in helping with Breakfast with Saint Nick.

Valentines Candy Grams

This hit with our students, is another small and simple fundraiser that our students seem to LOVE! For only $1 you and/or your children can send a Valentine Candy Gram (message with candy attached) to their classmates, older or younger "buddies, teachers and grandparents.  This year (2011) Family Club packaged and sold almost 1000 candy grams, proving that love is alive and well at St. John's.  A fun way to earn some of your volunteer hours.

Dine and Donate - Filipi's Pizza Grotto

A simple and easy way to support your school.  Typically twice a year (fall and spring) Family Club books and promotes an evening at Filipis's Pizza Grotto.  With a flyer in hand, you can either dine-in or takeout at any time throughout the selected day and 10% of your total bill will be donated back to our school.  Listen out for these dates from your Family Club, it will be in the e-gazette!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Held during the 2nd week in May, Teacher Appreciation Week is the week we give back to our great teachers.  Starting with a Morning Tea on the Monday, a show of love is planned for each day of the week, including a goumet lunch prepared lovingly by volunteers.  You will receive a flyer in plenty of time explaining what is planned for each day with suggestions on how you can help your child show that they love and appreciate their teachers as well as opportunities to assist the Family Club throughout the week.

Hospitality

Probably the busiest and ongoing area in which Family Club supports it's school.  From coffee and donuts on the 1st day of school, treats at Back to School Night, treats for students to celebrate their involvement in a valued ministry, Open House's, all the way through the year to Teacher Appreciation Week and also the last day of school, there are many opportunities for parents to provide a snack here, drink there and always set-up and take down.  Family Club lists every hospitality opportunity on one sign-up spread sheet at the beginning of the school year (and also at the Uniform Sale) and keeps it posted on the FC Bulletin Board all year long.  Please take a look to find an opportunity that you may be able to assist with.
