Notes from the Family Club Board.....
We are all ready to put thoughts of school, uniforms, homework projects, and volunteering behind us for a couple of months! Thank you to the many families who have taken the time to fill out and return their Volunteer Sign-Up Sheets, and to those of you who have taken leadership rolls. Laurie Daw, dedicated " Crab Feed Queen", thank you for signing up again! If you are still looking to sign up for a fundraiser, please consider this event. How about signing up to organize the dessert tables, leading the area of decorating, or co-chairing? Jody Bolen, thank you for all that you have done for us in the hospitality area, and for continuing into the 2008-2009 school year. What would we do without your trips to Costco and local bakeries? Spreading Jog-A-Thon buzz again, a team needs to be formed soon, so please consider lending your time to this fun-filled, student involved event! Please contact Katie Batt if you have any questions.
And for those of you still pondering the Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet.... Take a few more weeks to think on it, and please don't hesitate to contact a Family Club Board member, if you have any questions.
Happy Summer!

Notes from the Family Club Board.....
Attention! All Volunteers, check your schedules!
The Bean Machine will be here THIS Friday morning, so stop by and share a cup of coffee with the Family Club! Due to a limited supply and one Bean Machine staff member on hand, we ask that orders be limited to adults only.
As we approach the last few weeks of school, the Family Club is already working on the 2008-2009 school year!
Enclosed in the this weeks Gazette you will find the new 2008-2009 Volunteer Sign-Up sheet, which you will need to return by June 4th. This gives you ONE week to think on it! Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact a board member.
Speaking of the board....Since early February, taking on the job of Family Club President has kept me busy, but I look forward to returning in the coming school year. With a big sigh of relief and with great excitement, I would like to welcome to the 2008-2009 board, my new Co-President, Judy Franzino, and Vice President, Trish Tortolani. aka former Gala Dream Team!)
Tina Altamura will be returning as treasurer, Peta Shindle will return as secretary, and Gladis Cortez Gutierrez has decided to extend her two year commitment to the board. It will be a fantastic 2008-2009 school year, and I am thrilled to be in the company of such an amazing group of ladies! Speaking of volunteering, Katie Batt, Jog-a-thon chairperson extraordinaire, has decided to hang up her hat. Katie, you definitely deserve a break! With the jog-a-thon scheduled in the early fall, it is imperative that we find a new chairperson soon! This is a student involved, fun-filled fundraiser, so if you are looking for something exciting to devote your time to, this could be it! Katie is totally available to answer any questions that may arise, and has promised to lend assistance in any way that she can. If you aren't up to doing it alone, hunt down a co-chair!
I can't forget to give a "shout out" to two of the most recent fun-filled events-The Gala and Track & Field Day!
The Gala was amazing, and Elise, you out did yourself with a beautifully planned evening, in addition to a record breaking amount of money raised! The work involved in this event is enormous, and Elise has already began to plan for next year, so as you peruse the Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet, consider the Gala!
I hear-Track & Field Day was a blast of fun, and included a large group of speed racers, and parent volunteers!
This event is a perfect example of the amazing school spirit we have here at St. John's, and Paula Vlaming, thank you for "leading the pack" on this day.
Mark your calendars early, the Dennis Uniform Sale is scheduled for Sunday, August 3, in the St. John's Hall.
The Family Club will host a welcome table in honor of new families, and will also be on hand with new logo items and used uniforms. Interested in joining us on this date? The F.C. would love to have some of our current families on hand to meet and greet the new students and their families.
Enjoy the last TWO weeks of the 2007-2008 school year!

Notes from the Family Club Board.....
Thank you to the many families and students who participated in Teacher Appreciation Week, and a special thank you to Peta Shindle, Gina Laird and Donna White for assisting in this project. On Monday, we kicked off the week with breakfast treats and a visit from the Bean Machine, where staff members were given a St. John's logo commuter mug. On Wednesday, Gina prepared one of her famous staff luncheons, and on Thursday, Donna created one of her adorably crafted gifts for each teacher.
As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to thank ALL of the amazing volunteers that we have at St. John the Baptist Catholic School! Yes, it's time for Volunteer Appreciation! In honor of each and every one of you, we invite you to a gathering on Friday, May 30th, before and after morning assembly, from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
The Bean Machine, the traveling coffee mobile, will be joining us! See you there!

Notes from the Family Club Board.....
Our evening at Filippi’s Pizza Grotto on April 15th was a success! As I walked through the restaurant, it appeared almost every other table was filled with a hungry St. John’s family. The Family Club received a generous $475 donation from the evenings’ profits, thanks to the generosity of Filippi’s, and the many families in our community that participated. Let’s keep our fingers crossed, and hope to share another evening at Filippi’s during the 2008-2009 school year!
April 17th was a delight for St. John students, teachers and parent volunteers as we eagerly participated in the 2nd annual Downtown Treasure Hunt. While gaining knowledge of our neighborhood, we walked high, we walked low, and we walked far! The brainchild of the amazingly creative, Marion Hansen-Jerrard, this event is now a beloved St. John the Baptist Catholic School treasure. A thank you to Karen Gatton and George Stone for supplying us all with frozen treats!
The Scholastic Book Fair was a busy week for Mrs. Evans and our school library, thanks to the many students and families that visited the fair! A big round of applauds to Peta Shindle, Gladis Gutierrez, Carol Schulman, and Rita Madison for helping with the fair, and to Jami Bement and Melanie Oberting for helping pack it up!
For those of you who have ordered the new logo tee-shirts, our first shipment is here,! More orders have been placed and should be arriving soon. Orders can be picked up in Jenny Giaquinto’s office. We will continue to accept orders through May 30th, and will offer the tee-shirts again at the Dennis Uniform Sale on August 3rd.
Coming soon! - A snappy, bright red St. John the Baptist Catholic School commuter mug!
