“We Are Called”
ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Catholic Schools Week
And
Parish 150 Celebration of the School
Catholic Schools Week begins Monday, 1/28 and launches us into a month-long celebration of our Catholicity and tribute to our heritage as part of a sacred parish that was established 150 years ago. Specifics of Catholic Schools Week include: recognition and celebration and our staff, students, volunteers, vocations, parish, community and our nation. February marks the month we recognize the gift of the school as part of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church sesquicentennial celebration. Many groups have already been preparing events including the Parish 150th School Committee, School Staff, Family Club, School Council, Student Council and the Public Relations Committee. For today, I highlight the following:
Catholic School’s Week Mass and Parish Day: Sunday, 2/3, 10am-2pm: During 10am Mass, we’ll celebrate who we are as a community, then invite families and parishioners to tour the school they so lovingly support.
Community Open House: Thursday, 2/7: 6-8pm: Spread the word! Ask your teammate, neighbor, relative or other non-St. John family to visit our Community Open House.
“Parents as Primary Educators” Parent Education Opportunity: Tuesday, 2/12, 7-8:30pm: Come hear a presentation by Brother Ray Vercruysee, Director of the Institute for Catholic Educational Leadership, University of San Francisco. He’ll speak parents about this vital philosophy in Catholic Education. Invite a friend!
Alumni Banquet: Saturday, 2/23: 6-9pm: Did you, a friend or a relative graduate from St. John the Baptist Catholic School? If so, plan to attend our alumni dinner which will provide opportunity to learn about our current programs and catch-up with classmates.
Save the dates and spread the word! We’ll keep you posted for ways you can be involved in these community-building, celebratory activities. We are thriving because of the community we’ve created and I am thankful for your endless contributions. As we continue to move forward in the mission of our fine school, 2008 will no doubt bring us continued success.
