Dear Future Second Graders and Parents,
Summer is a time for fun, rest, reading, sports and traveling. Not a time, however, for letting those skills acquired in the school year get too rusty. As in the past, the teaching staff has decided to assign summer homework.
Following are the expectations for all students:
ü Complete the activities in the Scholastics Must-Know Math booklet. The booklet also has internet sites to support its activities. This booklet is standard-based and reviews First grade concepts. The completed booklet is to be graded by the parents and returned on the first day of school in August.
ü Practice math facts: addition and subtraction to 10.
ü Participate in the Library Summer Program. Turn in the reading log on the first day of school in August.
Hopefully, you will be able to have countless opportunities to help your child learn throughout the summer. I wish you all a great vacation and look forward to spending the next school year with you.
Sincerely,
Celine Ford, classroom teacher
