Betsy Kiernan

Mrs. Kiernan is a California native who grew up in San Francisco attending Catholic School grades 1 through 12. She started working with elementary school students as a freshman in high school, coaching 5th grade volleyball and went on to work as an assistant for an after school program. While earning her Bachelor of Arts degree at San Francisco State University, she worked as the supervisor of an after school program and taught Physical Education for Grades 4 through 8 at Lutheran and Catholic Schools in San Francisco.
Upon graduating from college, Mrs. Kiernan taught Fourth Grade, coached volleyball and cheerleading for seven years. Her teaching experience includes 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade co-ed P.E, team-teaching Kindergarten for two years, and team-teaching 6th grade while being a special education assistant for a 6th grade student. Mrs. Kiernan earned her California teaching Credential/CLAD certificte for preschool through adult school.
Mrs. Kiernan joined the St. John the Baptist teaching community as a pre-Kindergarten teacher in 2005. She taught Kindergarten with Mrs. Boyce for three years and looks forward to teaching Sixth Grade again this year. Mrs. Kiernan lives in Petaluma with her husband and two children.She enjoys supporting their many athletic endeavors, including Irish Dancing, basketball, Marital Arts, soccer, lacrosse, and her husband’s golf. She, herself, enjoys exercising, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
