Sister Joyce hails from America’s Dairyland - WISCONSIN. She was born and raised in Oshkosh, the eldest of three daughters. Sister Joyce, a member of the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, completed her undergraduate studies at Edgewood College of the Sacred Heart, in Madison, Wisconsin. She earned a Master of Arts degree from Concordia University, in River Forest, Illinois and her Teaching Credential from Dominican University, in San Rafael, California. Sister has also studied in London, England, and traveled in England and Germany. Sister’s teaching ministry includes the inner city and suburbs of Chicago, the wide open spaces of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and the past twenty-two years in California. Most of these years have been here, at St. John the Baptist Catholic School, except for a little diversion at Mission Parish School in San Juan Capistrano.
Sr. Joyce has experience teaching Grades 3 through 8 and is involved in her 5th year teaching Third Grade at St. John the Baptist. Sister Joyce is active in our parish and serves as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister. She has served on the Liturgical Life Committee and the Parish Pastoral Council. For relaxation, Sister Joyce enjoys travel, and has visited many areas of California. Sister loves to read and wishes she had more time to enjoy all the great books on the market for children today. Sister encourages her students to READ, READ, READ! She enjoys baking and has a great fruitcake for Christmas---one which will NOT be used as doorstop or passed on to Uncle Zeke next Christmas. Last, but not least, Sister Joyce is a Green Bay Packer fan through thick and thin. GO PACKERS!
